Goalball: A Sport for Your Ears
Goalball is a Paralympic sport for blind and visually impaired athletes. Two teams play against each other, and each team has three players on the court. Some players can see a little, but some players can't see at all. To make the game fair, all players wear eyeshades. The ball has bells inside, so the players can hear it. Players throw the ball along the floor and try to score a goal. The players of the other team stop the ball with their bodies. During the game, the spectators must be very quiet, because the players need to hear the ball. The Turkish women's national goalball team is very successful. The team has three Paralympic gold medals in a row: Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024.
